General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

WHAT IS IT?

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaced the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC.  The GDPR was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens’ data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the EU approach data privacy.

The GDPR became effective from 25 May 2018.

You can find out more about the GDPR at this site https://www.eugdpr.org

HOW DOES IT IMPACT MEMBERS & STAFF?

As Members and Staff of Tramore Golf Club you have always had the opportunity to access and check any data that we hold on record of you.  The sole purpose of personal data that Tramore Golf Club holds on Members and Staff is for the safe and effective running of the Club.

As per the GDPR, any information related to a natural person or ‘Data Subject’ that can be used to directly or indirectly identify the person constitutes personal data.

Personal data can be anything from a name, a photo, a postal or email address, handicap, date of birth, bank details, posts on social networking websites, medical information, CCTV footage, or a computer IP address.

In the interests of transparency with the GDPR we also want to draw your attention to the use of Facebook and CCTV by Tramore Golf Club as outlined below.

Facebook

Tramore Golf Club does have an active Facebook page, which is used to share Club updates and to promote the Club.  Photo’s of those attending events organised by the Club or Members of the Club may be posted on this page or linked/tagged by members to other sites.   Your child may be photographed or filmed when participating in Tramore Golf Club events. In the absence of any explicit objection, those responsible will act in the best interests of the child as to whether or not their image should be posted.  If, once posted, there is a request from the Parent or Guardian to remove the image, Tramore Golf Club will ensure the image is removed from its official Facebook page.  Similarly if any adult members do not want their image posted on the Club Facebook page they can submit a request to the office for it to be removed.

CCTV footage

Tramore Golf Club uses CCTV at various external locations and at various points in our Office and Bar as part of our security system for the members and staff, visitors, grounds, equipment and buildings.  Access to these images is limited to Staff and Club Officers and our security staff.  In the event of any issues arising which require review of such images these may also be shared with club members, Gardai and any other relevant outside bodies or persons deemed necessary to close out the investigation to the satisfaction of the Management Committee and the Gardai.
