Last night we hosted our Golf Ireland Rules Event with over 50 members in attendance. While there was indepth explanation of the various scenarios we all encounter during a round of golf, the three key principles of our game still came through:
1. Play the course as you find it and play the ball as it lies.
2. Play by the rules and in the spirit of the game.
3. You are responsible for applying your own penalties if you breach a rule, so you cannot gain potential advantage over the field.
For those of you who couldn’t attend, the R&A Rules of Golf App (https://www.randa.org/en/rules/rules-app) is a highly recommended tool going forward. And gaining knowledge of the definitions is a good starting point.
